Denmark's best chef and waiter awarded at Foodexpo

The first day at the Nordics' largest food fair, Foodexpo, was a run-in that offered several prestigious competitions - in addition to Chef of the Year and Waiter of the Year, Denmark's Best Pastry Chef and the winner of the DM in Mocktails were also named, for example. The fair, which this year completes 10 editions in 20 years and counts more than 450 exhibitors and a multitude of events, takes place in MCH Messecenter Herning 17-19. March 2024.

There was vying for one culinary gold medal after another, as Foodexpo treated on Sunday with a series of competitions focusing on food and drink of the highest quality. 3F and HORESTA organized the Chef of the Year and Waiter of the Year, and after a full day's work in the kitchen, the much-coveted awards could be handed out to chef Bjarke Jeppesen and waiter Andreas Kobs Laursen, both from the Treetop Restaurant in Vejle. The applause was emphatic when the names were called out by the host of the award ceremony, Timm Vladimir, and the joy was also great in the wake of the triumph.

- It's a huge release, and we are so happy and proud - it's really hard to hold back the emotions. It is a very distinguished club that we have now signed up for, and that you cannot take for granted that you will join, even if you strive for it. But you win if you train, and we always try to be the best version of ourselves - also on a daily basis. I'm tired and I'm used up, but I'm also extremely happy and relieved, states Bjarke Jeppesen and is supplemented by colleague Andreas Kobs Laursen:

- It means an insane amount to win this award - it's five luminaries with both two and three Michelin stars who judge us, and it's crazy to get this pat on the back from them. On a scale from 1-10, I am 1,000 happy - there is so much training behind it, so it is a huge redemption.

It is the first time that the winner of Chef of the Year and Waiter of the Year come from the same restaurant.
