ThermIT is looking forward to pleasant and professional moments at FoodExpo 24 with, among others, the Danish Chefs Association's new chairman Thomas Riis, who has replaced Anders Heegaard.
Thomas Riis is from Hjørring, went to Højene Skole, lives in Skagen and is a cooking and serving teacher at Food TechCollege in Aalborg, which has also installed ThermIT's digital wireless temperature monitoring.
He is a trained waiter, chef and sommelier and known in the industry from, among other things, Restaurant Messen and Skallerup Seaside Resort as well as Restaurant Pakhuset in Skagen.
Thomas Riis, together with the rest of the board, is in work clothes right now at the Olympics for the national junior chef team in Stuttgart, with two tough chefs from Restaurant Abstrakt in Hirtshals on the team.
There are several local faces on the board. Uffe Nielsen, the former long-time president, is now treasurer, and Henrik Jordan Kristensen is secretary and chairman of KF Region Nordjylland.
- The board will continue the course and create an even better association with respect around and secure influence where it makes sense. 2024 will be a busy year with junior national teams competing for the Olympics, and in March sometime after that there will be FoodExpo in Herning.
- At FoodExpo there are both Nordic championships for juniors and seniors, Nordic championships for waiters and the Green Chef of The Year competition. It is attracting a lot of attention out in the world, so who knows what it will develop into.
The autumn of 2024 again offers, among other things, competitions at Mors, and internationally, a new world president will be elected in October. Denmark, the other Nordic countries, and our close cooperation partners in Europe have a clear voice in which direction things should go, and it is always exciting with such choices.
- 2024 will also be a year when the chefs' association will work hard to get more members and strengthen our economy. Already now, spread the word that a lot is going to happen in our association, click on the website Kokkeforeningen.dk and the social media, and get your gastronomist colleagues to sign up. it's completely free, so the more we are, the more we can do, says Thomas Riis.
