OSCAR A/S has put sustainability on the menu and together with the supply company Nevel it has established a biogas plant near the production facility in Juuka, Finland. Here, we use over 6 million kilos of vegetables, herbs and chicken, veal and beef bones each year to make our Signature fonds, and this generates a significant amount of biowaste.

This biowaste is transformed into biogas that is recycled as heating and manufacturing at the factory. The residual products are used by local farmers as fertilizer which strengthens the local, circular economy and supports a greener energy and food production.

The biogas plant reduces emissions and transport costs since it is not necessary to transport the waste to composting or further treatment elsewhere.

The new biogas plant is yet another step in OSCAR A/S' commitment to sustainability initiatives and is part of our comprehensive approach to circular production supported by a strong environmental commitment.

The biogas plant in Juuka is able to process up to 19,500 tons of biowaste annually and we plan to produce 980,000 m3 of biogas annually corresponding to 9,700 MWh of energy production.
