We collect and recycle food waste, used cooking oil and frying fat. This is an important agenda, as all waste contains resources that we can—and must—utilise and reuse for the benefit of the environment. This also applies to food waste from the Danish food industry. In concrete terms, the food waste, fat and used cooking oil are recycled into green energy, nutrient-rich fertiliser and biodiesel. A safe, valuable and sustainable choice!
Food waste and used cooking oil are collected from across Denmark and transported to our pre-treatment facilities. Here, the food waste is turned into a uniform biopulp after the plant has removed any non-organic material such as plastic packaging, bags, metal and paper. The pulp is then digested in a biogas plant, which sends the gas directly into the national natural gas grid. The degassed biomass is used as nutrient-rich fertiliser that can replace artificial fertiliser. Used cooking oil and frying fat are recycled almost 1:1 into second‑generation biodiesel.
