After a close dialogue with the partners behind Foodexpo, the largest food fair in the Nordic countries is now postponed until 2021 to the known term in March. Foodexpo is organized by MCH in collaboration with the 13 leading industry associations and organizations representing the exhibitors as well as visitors. The postponement is carried out according to the wish- and with full support from all partners.
Niels Jensen, Managing Director at MLDK (Branded Manufactures Association), justifies the need to postpone the fair until spring:
- Our industry is currently deeply affected by the corona situation and the decommissioning of Denmark. Along with the buying patterns in the industry, it speaks in favor of postponing Foodexpo to next year. I have been in close dialogue with MCH to express our full support to the postponement of the fair to spring 2021, where we again see a great need in the market and among our members to meet at Foodexpo in Herning.
Steffen Hansen, Head of Secretary at BFS (The Association of Large Kitchen Equipment) and BKC (The Association of Coffee & Convenience Solutions), says in addition:
- At BFS and BKC, we believe that the outcome for the exhibitors, suppliers and customers will be best by postponing Foodexpo to March next year. At this time they will, hopefully, all have regained their respective businesses and are back on track after the corona crisis, he says.
The support is crucial
The big support of the industry organizations and associations along with the great joint work effort in relation to the postponement of Foodexpo pleases the management of MCH.
- The fair must always reflect the wishes and needs of the industry. At Foodexpo many industries are gathered, and we have worked closely together in order to find the right date for the fair. We thank the 13 industry organizations and associations for the good and close dialogue. Their support is crucial for Foodexpo, says CEO Georg Sørensen, MCH A / S.
Foodexpo takes place 21-23 March 2021 at MCH Messecenter Herning.
Foodexpo is the largest food fair in the Nordic countries, and will from now on be held in odd years at MCH Messecenter Herning whereas Madværkstedet will be carried out in Copenhagen in straight years, next time in 2022.
Foodexpo is arranged in collaboration with the following industry associations: HORESTA, MLDK (Branded Manufactures Association), Danish Fish Merchants, Fødevareklubben, Danish Diet & Nutrition Association, LBI (Supplier Association for Bakery Machinery and Inventory), BKD (The Association of Bakery and Pastry Masters in Denmark), DSK (The Federation of Retail Grocers in Denmark), The Collaborative Merchants, DSM (The Danish Butchers Association), NBL (The Association of Danish Shop Merchants) BFS (The Association of Large Kitchen Equipment), BKC (The Industry Association for Coffee and Convenience Solutions) and The Association Canteen & Kitchen.
The most recent food trade fair in 2018 was attended by more than 26,000 professionals from home and abroad. This year's Foodexpo should have been carried out on 22-24 March 2020 with more than 550 exhibitors, a record-breaking activity program and 29 different competitions for professionals. MCH and the collaborators of the fair are working intensely to continue the program to next year.
