When MCH Messecenter Herning opens its doors to the largest food fair in the Nordic region, Foodexpo, in March, it will also be the start of three days of captivating professional competitions - including a Danish premiere: Pizza Champion Cup.
The food industry consists of thousands of skilled professionals. But who makes the best yeast dough? The most delicious cocktail? The perfectly balanced sausage? Or the most tasty pizza? And who is best at serving customer orders? All this and much more must be decided when a large number of exciting professional competitions are held at the largest food fair the Nordic region, Foodexpo, which takes place in MCH Messecenter Herning 27.-29. March 2022.
Here, the visitors can experience ten large exhibition halls with exciting product news from a multitude of exhibitors as well as inspiring areas, interesting lectures and thus also exciting and perhaps even nerve-wracking competitions, when professional participants from the entire food industry compete for prestigious titles. All industries are involved and contribute with the best they have to offer.
Guests can attend the competition "Chef and Waiter of the Year" and also experience the best chefs and waiters from all over the Nordic region vying for the title of "Best Chef and Waiter in the Nordic Region". At the Danish Championships for students, new, young talents from both the culinary and waiter professions can be experienced live on stage.
Exciting competitions for bartenders are also planned to hit the Bar-stage Sunday and Monday, as well as the baker competitions "Denmark's Best Baker" and "Denmark's Best Pastry Chef", which can be experienced in Hall F. Among the butcher's delicacies, "Denmark's Best Sausage" and "Denmark's Best Liver Pâté" will be chosen, and also within fish and cheese delicacies, the favorites are found.
New competition on the plate: Who is Denmark's best pizza baker?
As a completely new competition at Foodexpo, guests can experience pizza workmanship in a class of its own, when the Danish premiere at Pizza Champion Cup will launch on Tuesday. The competition has been held in Sweden since 2016, and now the time has come to Denmark, where the country's best pizza bakers are to be found.
45 participants will compete for three prestigious titles in pizza making: "Denmark's best dessert pizza", "Denmark's best gourmet pizza" and "Denmark's best Margherita". One winner is found in each category.
Former world champion in pizza baking and founder of the official Swedish pizza baking national team, Mike Arvblom, is the sponsor of the competition. He is the main judge of the jury, which will also consist of well-known international profiles and pizza experts.
- With Pizza Champion Cup, we want to show that pizza making is an art, and that it takes a really good chef to make a good pizza. My father learned to make pizza in Naples, so pizza is a family tradition for me. It's a culture, says Mike Arvblom, who is looking forward to presenting the Pizza Champion Cup at Foodexpo.
- I am always looking for new inspiration. Denmark is known to be a forward-thinking country when it comes to food, and I hope to see plenty of new ideas and methods. The most important thing about a pizza is that it has to taste good. It takes a long time to prepare, especially if the participants wish to think outside the box and make pizzas, that are not exactly traditional. All in all, I look forward to seeing what the participants bring, says the world champion.
The competition will be held as a kind of 'non-stop pizza delivery', which the audience can follow closely. At each table, a small camera will film the pizza makers, so that the visitors can follow closely and may be lucky enough to taste Denmark's best pizza.
